Under Additional Security , next to Multi-factor authentication , click Set up. This will take you to the start of the MFA process. When prompted to choose an authenticator app, select Use my own app. In a separate tab on your web browser, go to the Authy website and follow the steps to download Authy to your desktop.
When you enter a phone number, you can select how you receive the verification code. Then, enter the code to get into Authy. Add Xero as an account within Authy. To find the code or key, return to Xero and click Can't scan the QR code? Enter a setup key instead. Next to Setup Key , click Copy. Go back to the Authy app, click on the plus icon to add an account.
Paste the code or key and click Add Account. As Xero doesn't appear on the options to choose from, we need to create it. Select one of the options, for example Generic Blue , then to rename it type 'Xero' in the Account Name field at the top of the screen. Select 6-digit as the token length, and click Save. Once Authy is generating codes, return to Xero and click Enter Code. Enter the six digit code from the Authy app and click Confirm.

Hi Craig. Note that it wasn't before, it was a native part of Xero's Oauth implementation before they rolled out their OAuth 2 system like any other API system you've probably encountered.
They just announced that they are bringing in a new implementation of true M2M connection, but are forcing people to pay for it. People are already unhappy about that especially after months of expensive rewriting around the second option you point out. Currently the API is not fit for M2M purpose and some of the decisions being made are both questionable and a bit risky when it comes to investing in technical solutions.
If Xero wasn't a concrete requirement, I would be looking at other Accounting options with superior API implementations. Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. So does this mean that Xero is incapable at this stage of a workable API that allows me to push data from our Sequel platform into Xero and pull data from Xero back to Sequel? I am looking for solution that enables me to keep using Xero as an integral part of our end to end process.
Can you please provide a workable solution that Sequel can use to build this? So while I'm glad that Xero is finally going to implement an M2M solution, it being a paid extra is disappointing and just another cost our clients will have to bare. Though there are certainly certain technology infrastructures that will require more engineering work to integrate which sounds like is the case for Sequel.
